Buying Used Pontiac - About Pontiac cars

Pontiac is produced by General Motors and sold in the United States, Canada and Mexico from 1926 to the present. In the GM brand line, Pontiac is a mid-level brand featuring a more sporting, performance-driven experience for a reasonable price, and a youthful feel to its advertising.

The Oakland Motor Company and Pontiac Spring & Wagon Works Company decided to merge together in November 1908 under the name of the Oakland Motor Car Company. The operations of the both companies were joined together in Pontiac, Michigan to build the Carter car. General Motors purchased Oakland Motor Company in 1909. The Pontiac brand was introduced by General Motors in 1926 as the 'companion' to GM's Oakland Motor Car line. The Pontiac name was first used in 1906 by the Pontiac Spring & Wagon Works and linked to the Chief Pontiac. The General Motors Pontiac was conceived as an affordable six cylinder that was intended to compete with more inexpensive four cylinder models. Within a month of its introduction, Pontiac outsold Oakland.

Tips for buying used Pontiac cars

Cars are becoming increasingly complex, and modern vehicles can easily daunt even people who are happy poking about under the bonnet. That is why it can be worth calling in the professionals; a qualified engineer with all the right tools and test equipment will give a written report on how good a car is. Such checks are not cheap - they're usually over ?100, but you could end up saving a lot more than that if you're considering buying what turns out to be a heap. If you're a member of a major breakdown organization you should be able to get a discounted vehicle check, but it'll still be quite a chunk of cash. While such inspections are complete, not all vehicles are eligible. Imports, cars over seven years old or particularly expensive cars are typical exemptions, so you may need to call in a local mechanic to look over one of these instead. In case you call in the experts but then have a major problem, you can claim against the company that did the inspection and there should be some form of financial redress available cheap alternative, which looks at all the key areas is a MoT. You can put a car through MoT at any time and for comparatively little money you can establish if there are any serious faults with the vehicle.
