Lincoln is currently switching to a new naming system based around the "Mark" name used since, 1950s. Most Lincoln models will be given a three-letter name starting with "MK". The Navigator and Town Car name will remain, but all other models are expected to use this convention by the end of this year. Lincoln is an American luxury automobile brand, working under the Ford Motor Company. Founded in 1917 by Henry M Leland and acquired by Ford in 1922, Lincoln has been manufacturing cars intended for the upscale markets since the 1920s. Ironically Lincoln's familiar competitor Cadillac was also founded by Henry M. Leland having acquired the assets of The Henry Ford Company. While Lincoln was the best selling luxury marque in the United States, it lost ground to its competitors. To combat this recent slide in sales Lincoln has unveiled three new models, MKS luxury sedan, the MKZ sport sedan and MKX crossover sport utility vehicle.
Lincoln is considered as the best-selling luxury brand in the United States, helped by the massive success of the Navigator SUV, and a redesign of the Town Car as well as the Continental. The company was part of the Premier Automotive Group from 1998 to 2002, but was pulled out due to Ford's new marketing strategy to separate its "import" brands from its domestic marques. In recent years, however, the company has fallen behind European, Japanese and American competitors for a lack of new models. The company is working to remedy this, however, and is sharing parts and platforms with other Ford divisions worldwide in an attempt to bring more new models to market rapidly.
Tips for Buying Used Lincoln Car
Before you begin your search for a good deal on a used Lincoln car, spend some time considering many of the same factors that would apply to a new car purchase: how will you use the vehicle; how long do you plan to keep it; and your budget for the purchase, including insurance, operation, maintenance and repair costs.
Buying a used Lincoln car obviously carries a certain level of risk. After all, with a new car you get the peace of mind that nobody has driven the vehicle carelessly or failed to have it maintained on a regular basis. And, if something goes wrong, the car is under warranty-at least for a period of time. These safeties are not usually included in the purchase of a used Lincoln car and you can know more about other used cars at http://www.usedcarx.com.
